Product Description
Built for kids ages 2-5, the Skuut is a pedal-less, chainless push bike that moves by foot power ("Flinstone" style). Its the perfect introduction to cycling because its specifically designed to complement the motor skills of young children, teaching balance and control at a much earlier age than traditional cycles with training wheels. The Skuut is a great confidence booster. From the very beginning your child can make independent progress, pushing along to discover how it works. In a short while he will lift his feet and begin moving forward, balancing and reveling in their new found mobility! They will NEVER need a bike with stabilizers, which prevent the development of balance. Your child will take to riding a bicycle instantly and naturally.

All parts are extremely robust and the body is made of heat-treated softwood and hardwood, coated with non-toxic lacquer. The saddle can be adjusted for height as your child grows. The steering is specially made so that kids cant turn to fast and tip over. Other safety features include Euro-styled wheels and no spokes (to prevent shoelace tangles). The Skuut come with a one-year guarantee - exceptional for a product aimed at young children!

A first bike invariably becomes a child's favorite toy. Children have an urge for movement and discovery and the Skuut enables them to playfully acquire coordination skills, foresight and agility. The feeling of riding alone is an exhilarating experience which helps to build self-confidence and safety. Whether they imagine it to be a copy of Dad's mountain bike or a pretend horse, the Skuut will play an important role as your child develops. And when it's outgrown, it becomes not just another old toy, but a lifelong reminder of childhood dreams...

5 out of 5 stars Transition   June 30, 2010

Wonderful sturdy way to learn to ride a bike. Kids don't have to balance right away and learn to ride when they're ready. A great concept. Very well made and kids can start to use it at two and one half. They have fun while learning. Although it's expensive, it can entertain a child for two to three years so it ends up a good value.

5 out of 5 stars skuut balance bike   May 29, 2010

This was the perfect birthday gift for my three-year-old boy. He loves it. It is so much fun to cruise on. It is THE way to teach a child to ride a bike. After having the balance bike,he tried training wheels at age 3 1/2 for about three days, asked to take them off and, voila! He could ride a two wheel bike. The balance bike is fun for even older kids but best of all it teaches balance without the confusion of pedaling and chains and all that. One step at a time. All my son had to do was practice his sense of balance. And it is so easy to throw in the back of the car/van. Light weight but durable and a good-looking piece of art. Highly recommend this balance bike. It basically taught my 3 1/2 year-old to ride a two-wheeler without training wheels.

5 out of 5 stars Skuut bike has been a great intro to cycling   May 25, 2010

We bought a Skuut bike for our daughter when she turned 4 in 2009. She went on to use a bike with training wheels and was off of the training wheels before she turned 5. Our 3 1/2 year old son inherited the Skuut, has ridden it for about 3 months and yesterday learned to ride a two-wheeler without training wheels. The bike is no longer great looking but still in very useable condition and I will be able to resell it for $30-$40 with no trouble.

5 out of 5 stars Worked great for a 4 y.o.   May 24, 2010

We originally bought the Skuut for our two year old (who's on the short side), but it didn't fit her. Even flipping the frame upside down didn't allow her to sit comfortably on it. However, our 4 year old (on the taller side) fits fine.

Well, at first, she didn't like the Skuut since she was used to her 12" bike with training wheels. After a few days, she loved the Skuut and pretty much ignored the trainer. She quickly became an expert with the Skuut and was able go fast with her feet up.

So this weekend, we put the lessons learned from the Skuut to the test. We took the training wheels off and tried her out. The morning session was great (from my point of view). With the exception of starting and stopping, she was on her own. As long as she kept pedalling, she was golden. The braking took a little getting used to since she would instinctively put her feet down (like with the Skuut). However, since she sits a little higher on the bike, there's very little braking ability with just the tips of her feet.

The afternoon session went even better. A bunch of kids were outside and she felt the need to show off. She quickly learned how to brake. So all that left was the starting. If she was facing downhill, she could push off a little and jump on the pedals. Pointing uphill was a little more difficult. I think one more day and she'll have it all figured out.

So my ultimate review of the Skuut is that it works. I think it really shortened up the learning curve by teaching the most difficult part (balancing). It gives the child a good deal of confidence, rather than a security blanket like training wheels.

I love it and now we'll lower the seat and wait until the 2 y.o. can fit. After all, it really is her bike.

My son loves this skuut cycle. He has a bike with training wheels too but that does not teach him how to balance like the skuut cycle. he loves it and I am glad he does!
