Love this trunk bag! August 26, 2010 Victor N (New Jersey, USA) Whats not to love? With the expandable top storage area and the two side bags, you have lots of options for all your gear whether you are traveling light or heavy. You won't be able to fit a full size shopping bag in the side panels (I have other bags for that) but if you are looking to take some clothes or other items, this will do the trick.
Don't need the side bags? Just zip them up and they are completely out of the way. My favorite feature? The custom locking mechanism, slide the bag onto a ToPeak rear rack and the bag securely locks into place. No bungies or cords to mess with. Easy on and easy off!
Does it's job very well. August 17, 2010 Eric Rowland (Indianapolis, Indiana USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bag to replace a similar Trek bag which had frustrated me. The Trek bag wasn't holding its shape very well, causing the rear light to face the ground, and it was a pain to remove when I parked the bike due to its velcro straps.
This Topeak bag seems to be holding its shape very well and is surprisingly commodious for its size. I'm getting more stuff in this on than I had the Trek bag, even though this one looks smaller to me on the bike. I'm an architect and have found the bungees on the top to be particularly helpful when I have to carry a roll of drawings. I no longer have to carry extra bungees with me to do that. The panniers are also great for packing my change of clothes.
I was concerned that the attachment system might rattle, but have not found that to be the case.
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the zipper pulls feel a little wimpy, the main compartment should have one more divider, and the rain cover should be included at this price.
Just What I Wanted June 27, 2010 Oliver This bag works very well. When I bike to work in the morning I need to wear a jacket to stay warm, but biking home in the evening I need a way to carry my jacket. This bag makes it very easy to carry stuff around town. It's amazing how quickly I can take it off and put it onto my rack. It was definitely worth the purchase.
GREAT BAG June 18, 2010 Travis Anglin (New Orleans, LA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Everyone has such positive comments about this bag. I love this bag too but nothing is perfect and when I'm reading reviews on a product I might buy I like to hear what is wrong with it from people who have had problems before making a purchase. That being said here are the pros and cons--
PROS -plenty of space
-durable material
-like the pockets and elastic bands on top and at bottom of each side pannier
-like the ability to slide bag on rack
CONS -carrying handle is at top of bag and is supported by zipper(not good when bag has a heavy load)
-plastic piece on bottom of bag that slides onto rack will make clicking noise when riding on rough road or when riding over even small lines in cement on sidewalk and the whole plastic piece broke in half when I pulled too hard to try to slide bag off rack(probably my fault)
-bag has yellow spring loaded locking hook that hooks on to rack. Worked fine with my first bike and rack but after that bike was stolen my second bike and exact same rack, the hook would unhook when riding and start to slide off rack, solved this problem with a bungee going over entire bag which also solved clicking noise.
In summation the bag is great and with any product there will be problems. Overall I like it and would recommend it.
Superb - one big plus and one small minus June 14, 2010 M. C. Corcoran (Portland OR USA) I use this for clothing and shoes as I commute to work at a hospital and for groceries.
I purchased this bag along with the associated rack even though powerfully apprehensive. My concerns were whether it would be roomy enough and if so, would it stay out of the way of the heels of my size 13 feet? It's passed both tests with honors.
The next advantage is that the rigid sides of the panniers make them easy to zip back up after unloading. I assumed it would be unfolded full-time which hasn't been true.
It's great to just slip it off and carry it into work without having to screw around for 5 minutes with various fasteners.
The only minus is that there is no small pocket to keep tire patches and Allen wrenches separate from general stuff, but they do OK in a Zip-Loc bag in the bottom of the trunk portion.
And so far it's generally waterproof.
